Il manga di Cinderella Boy è stato realizzato da Monkey Punch nel 1980 ben 7 anni prima del manga Ranma 1/2 di Rumiko Takahashi (1987).

STORIA

INTRODUZIONE

Storia: Kirin Town, in un qualsiasi casinò.
Ranma sta perdendo parecchi soldi al tavolo da black jack.
Rella, al bancone del bar, si è fatta avvicinare da un tizio che si vanta di avere un pass per una sala da gioco VIP.
Ranma decide di puntare tutto il suo capitale su un unico giro. Perde tutto e fa un pò di chiasso al punto che arriva la security (alla quale ruba una tessera VIP).
Rella ha fatto ubriacare il suo interlocutore e poi gli soffia la preziosa tessera.
I due si ritrovano sull'ascensore e salgono nella sala privata. Qui attraversano i tavoli da gioco (dove puntano cifre spaventose) e si dirigono verso l'ufficio.
All'interno iniziano a cercare informazioni su un'individuo per conto di un cliente. Controllando su un pc, scoprono che questi è coinvolto in un grosso traffico d'armi.
Mentre esaminano i dati, vengono scoperti dalla security i quali iniziano a sparare. I nostri fuggono gettandosi da una finestra. Gli uomini della sicurezza, però, non si arrendono e li seguono. Per la caccia usano anche un elicottero e riescono a far uscire di strada i nostri. La loro macchina si schianta e esplode...
Ranma fa uno strano sogno: si vede su un tavolo operatorio. Accanto a lui vede il corpo di Rella. Poi vede il classico dottore pazzo. Poi più nulla.
Il nostro si riprende nel punto esatto in cui la macchina è esplosa. Tornando lucido scopre che è passata una settimana dal giorno dell'incidente e che non è stato trovato il corpo di Rella, quindi deve essere morta tra le fiamme...
La sera Ranma porta un mazzo di fiori sul luogo della tragedia. Purtroppo trova ad attenderlo gli sgherri del casinò che lo catturano e lo portano nella loro base.
Qui Ranma scopre che dietro il traffico d'armi c'è un potente boss mafioso cinese e che lui ha ficcato il naso in una questione molto delicata.
Per eliminarlo il boss decide di farlo bruciare usando una sigaretta che il nostro fumerà. Il nostro riesce a liebrarsi all'ultimo dalla trappola più stupida del mondo e fugge dalla stanza mezzo nudo perchè i vestiti si erano incendiati.
Purtroppo le guardie lo vedono e lo inseguono. Ranma fugge ancora attraverso una finestra ma, soffrendo di vertigini, non si butta ma costeggia il bordo esterno del palazzo. Quando sta per raggiungere un'altra finestra, gli sgherri gli sparano e lo distraggono e il nostro cade nel vuoto.
Mentre cade, scatta la mezzanotte e il nostro si trasforma in... Rella! Ora si trova lei a precipitare...

Cast: Ranma ha la voce di Takehito Koyasu (Ryuga in "Mahoromatic") e Rella è doppiata da Yumi Toma (Najica in "Najica").

STORIA/EPISODI

Kirin Town, futuro prossimo venturo. Nella città più criminale del mondo opera una strana coppia di investigatori. Lui è Ranma, simpatico ex-scavezzacollo convertito alla giustizia, squattrinato e con una sola grande passione: le auto d'epoca. Lei è Rella, bella, bionda e provocante, a tal punto annoiata da una vita piena di agi e comodità da scegliere la professione di detective per assecondare il proprio desiderio di avventura. Insieme sono la R&R, società investigativa dalla politica aziendale ondivaga e contraddittoria, conformemente alle opposte personalità dei due titolari. Durante una rocambolesca fuga in auto Ranma e Rella precipitano da un viadotto e si schiantano al suolo; un misterioso soccorritore riesce a salvare le vite di entrambi, ma lo fa in modo alquanto particolare. A partire da quel momento Ranma e Rella condivideranno il medesimo corpo ma vivranno le rispettive vite a giorni alternati, avvicendandosi allo scoccare della mezzanotte, con mirabile trasformazione e perdita istantanea della memoria. Mai così uniti prima d'ora, i due soci paradossalmente sono destinati a non incontrarsi mai più...

E' ormai trascorso qualche tempo dal terribile incidente che ha coinvolto Ranma e Rella, i due titolari della Agenzia Investigativa R&R. Da quel giorno entrambi hanno vissuto una vita dimezzata, confusa, costellata di amnesie e inspiegabili risvegli in luoghi impensati, in situazioni di emergenza e di estremo pericolo, senza sapere minimamente perchè. Finalmente all'ennesimo scoccare della mezzanotte Rella si sostituisce a Ranma proprio davanti agli occhi dell'incredula Dorothy, l'affezionata governante della bionda investigatrice. Adesso, grazie alla testimonianza di Dorothy, i due sono in grado di coordinare meglio i loro avvicendamenti, informandosi reciprocamente, tramite un registratore di messaggi, sugli avvenimenti occorsi nell'ultima giornata vissuta. Il mistero di ciò che è realmente accaduto, però, è ancora fitto: chi è stato a costringere i due soci a vivere in un unico corpo? E perchè?

Ingannato dall'astuta Dorothy che intende far incontrare Rella con suo padre, Ranma si reca in Giappone per indagare su un uomo misterioso, ma, giunto sul luogo indicatogli, allo scoccare della mezzanotte, si tramuta in Rella. La donna, trovandosi di fronte suo padre, comprende l'inganno della vecchia governante e fugge, finendo con l'incontrare Amano, ex guardia del corpo di suo padre, al cui destino sembra adesso legata, vista l'insistenza con cui una banda di mafiosi li bracca. Dopo una rocambolesca fuga, Rella arriva nella sua vecchia casa e qui finalmente apprende le vere intenzioni del genitore: combinare un matrimonio con Alamis De Paninis. Dopo una nuova fuga torna in scena Ranma, dando vita a una serie di fughe e scontri con i mafiosi, la fine dei quali vedrà la sconfitta di questi ultimi e la tragica morte di Amano. Tornato a Kirin Town, Ranma non troverà certo la pace, data la nuova situazione bizzarra in cui verrà coinvolto, ovvero accontentare i capricci di una ragazza intenzionata a spezzare almeno per qualche ora la sua faticosa routine di star. Tra shopping, luna park e veri delinquenti al loro inseguimento, Ranma riuscirl come sempre a risolvere la situazione, pagando però un doloroso prezzo...

Dopo aver celato la sua vera identità e aver osservato lo svolgersi delle vicende nell'ombra, Alice decidere di uscire allo scoperto contattando direttamente Ranma. La donna, appartenente alla Fondazione Neverland al capo della quale v'è il perfido Hook, chiede al detective di cercare il celebre biochimico scomparso Grimm, ovvero proprio l'uomo che ha miracolosamente unito i corpi e le anime di Ranma e Rella. Braccata dalle truppe mercenarie al servizio di Hook capitanate da Jackal, Rella, che ha finalmente scovato Grimm, riesce a trovare riparo al porto, ma tutto risulta vano, dato che il dottore viene catturato e portato in un isola sperduta in mezzo all'oceano, sede della Fondazione Neverland. Costretto con la forza, qui Grimm riprende a lavorare sul progetto per cui era stato in precedenza finanziato dalla Fondazione, quello stesso progetto che aveva permesso la fusione dei corpi di due persone: la creazione di Peter, un uomo bionico destinato ad essere prodotto in serie e utilizzato a scopi bellici. L'inevitabile fine del pazzoide piano di Hook giungerà quando il suo progetto verrà rivelato al mondo intero, che si impegnerà ad attaccare l'isola con una flotta multinazionale il mattino seguente. Libero dalla Fondazione e dalla sempre più misteriosa Alice, Grimm tornerà a Kirin Town, ma cosa ne sarà adesso di Ranma e Rella? Riusciranno i due a trovarsi un giorno l'uno di fronte all'altra?

STORY

Year 20XX.
Ranma runs a private detective agency with a beautiful partner, Rela, in a lawless place called Kilin Town (commonly called ‘ Killing Town '). He is a hard-hearted adventurer.
One day, Ranma and Rela dabble into a dangerous job. They are chased by the mob and get seriously injured. But, the duo is brought back to life miraculously thanks to ‘a mysterious bio-scientist. And they have great power and speed three times more than any Olympic athlete! Mini-superman is born! Well… hold on. Don't get so excited.
Ranma changes into Rela at midnight and Rela changes back to Ranma exactly 24 hours later!
“Who made us into a trans-sex monster like this! Get us back to what we were!”
But that bio-scientist, ‘Dr. O,' has disappeared and there is no way to find him.
Unknown to the duo, a stunning secret is hidden in their body. During the unprecedented surgical operation, ‘Dr. O' plants the top secret of research made by Mr. X, who controls a huge organization called Nverland Foundation behind the curtain, in the duo's body. In no time, the private army of Mr. X is sent to ‘ Killing Town ' to capture Ranma. Then, the special squad of a military nation runs after Ranma to get the secret that might overturn the world. Ranma and Rela are thrown into a dangerous cat-and-mouse chase. In this desperate situation, they have to find out the clue that will bring them back to a normal body.

Main Characters

Ranma Hinamatsuri : A private detective running a detective agency with Rela Cindy in 'Killing Town'. Ranma is a man of total solitude, having no family and no relatives in the world. He is killed in a traffic accident during an investigation but is revived through a miraculous bio-surgery performed by a mysterious scientist. He possesses great athletic ability like a mini-superman, but is annoyed his body switches into Rela's at midnight. Ranma is a proficient investigator. He is methodical and hates to waste money. However, he loses money most of the time because of his sentimentalism in serious situations and his spirit of defiance to authority. Ranma's weak points: He always falls in love with a beautiful lady instantly. He drinks no alcohol. (because he likes sweets.) He has acrophobia. He insists the name of agency is "R & L" and it is his daily work to change the office sign. His shooting skills are first class. His favorite car is a 'London Cab'. (An Austin model for taxi in London .) He is a fan of "Response", a tail end team in the professional baseball league.

Rela Cindy Shirayuki : An arousing beauty and Ranma's partner. Killed also in the accident but revives as 'a switching human every 24 hours.' Rela is the daughter of the owner of one of the financial combines. She rebelled against her father and walked away from home. It is destiny (or, misfortune?) for her to come to 'Killing Town' and became Ranma's partner. Rela is quick-witted and has the eye to judge precious stones and art. She is gaudy and likes to dress up in style. She is a real heavy drinker and 'Dom Perignon Rose' is her most favorite. Rela is a gambler and she makes Ranma outraged as she spends money for 'operational expenses'. She looks like a selfish spoiled brad but detests injustice. Although she throws thorny words at Ranma, she is in love with him. So, she misses him after the duo becomes 'the switching man'.

Alice : A mysterious glamorous girl who nestles up and can twist Ranma with her finger. Alice appears abruptly to get in his way, chase him or entrap him. She sells information to spies from any country. Is she a friend or a foe? It seems Alice knows the secret planted in the bodies of Ranma and Rela. But her true intentions are mystery. Ranma is cautious about Alice but always falls a victim to her seductiveness.

Dorothy Ozu : Dorothy is an old woman who runs a shabby tobacco shop. She is also the proprietress, the telephone operator and the cleaning lady of "R & L (or, L & R) Detective Agency". She is the only person who knows Ranma and Rela "switches" and promises to help them to communicate with one another. But, she is very forgetful and falls asleep frequently. However, there is a rumor that Dorothy has tremendous computer knowledge and making fortunes on the Internet.

Toto : Rela's pet. A smart and agile Border Collie. Toto never gets attached to Ranma and often bites him. It helps Rela's investigation. It likes soccer and tends to play with anything round.

Master Song : One of the prominent figures in the underworld.

Tinkerell : A 'chat informant' who gives information to Ranma and Rela only through the Internet. The clients must pay first according to the credibility of the information sources. Rank A is very expensive. Rank D is just a junk. Tinkerbell is spiteful. He sends information in code or in the form of a quiz. His true identity and source of information are unknown.

Hook : Alias Mr. X. The powerful man controlling a huge organization called Neverland Foundation developing and producing hi-tech weaponry including the bionic human soldier named "Unbreakable Man". This organization built an artificial island on the sea off Killing Town. Hook has no hesitation to use any blood-chilling methods to carry out his mission. H e is a gourmand and likes dressing up in style. He fancies himself first class in everything. He pretends to be a quiet gentleman, but gets wild at times.

Dr. Grimm : Alian Dr. O. A mad but extraordinarily genius scientist whose theory is "Personality Infusion" tto unite a man and a woman into one body so that he can save the world from shortage of food due to the increase of population. He is the doctor who saves the lives of Ranma and Rela after their car fell down from the speedway.

Gurete : The military commander of Nation B and the leader of the special squad to snatch the secret hidden in Ranma's body. Gurete is a beautiful but cruel woman. When her men make a mistake, she gives them a hard lesson with her whip. She likes to spit out jokes, but even her jokes freeze the others. Gurete is an enthusiastic supporter of the head of state, but she likes and admires the culture of Nation A at the bottom of her heart.
